Speech of Tibet House in Moscow to honor on the 79th birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama

Speech and congratulations from Tibet House in Moscow,
Press secretary Mss. Julia Vechernina. July 5, 2014.

Today, in a remarkable birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, expressing congratulations, would like to note the role of the depth of His Holiness in the world today.

Why do millions of Buddhists and many other people belonging to different confessions mark the day of July the 6th as an important event in their calendar?

Certainly all of you are aware of Tibetan Issue and besides every day you can watch on TV the course of different armed conflicts taking away thousands of human lives and bringing lasting sorrow. Unfortunately, at present the international community has to face direct aggression and violence despite the essential progress of civilization. Looking at this, it is hard to believe that we are the people living in the 21st century.

But there is always hope. For example, thanks to Mahatma Gandhi, one of the fathers of the way of non-violence and the great preacher of humanism, the whole world could see the other and pragmatic approach to problem solving - the way of peaceful dialogue, a way without victims and cruelty. That's exactly why we celebrate the birthday of the Dalai Lama, a true successor of Gandhi Ji. Just as Tibet studied and preserved philosophy of Buddhism which came to the Land of Snows from India, so His Holiness the Dalai Lama throughout his life, from his youth to the present days, brings people philosophy of peace and compassion. In each his book, lecture or private talk He tells about his dearest wish, - acts of kindness, love and mutual responsibility, and self-denial for the sake of others. His wise words have touched many hearts and brought peace of mind, and His fiery speech of peace in 1989 has been awarded the Nobel Prize.

In spite of the fact that the Dalai Lama always lowly pointed out that He is just a Tibetan monk, He is certainly one of the greatest public figures of our times, a courageous fighter for cessation of violence and wars, a philosopher, a scientist and the undying sun for His people.

On this day we, on behalf of Tibet House in Moscow, wish His Holiness the Dalai Lama XIV many years of life and good health. We pray that He will be in this world until all living beings get rid of sufferings.

The year of 2014 has brought a lot of acute conflicts to our planet but we are glad that it is this year when the Tibetan Government-in-Exile declared as the year of His Holiness the Dalai Lama reminding us the importance of His personality and untiring activity for the benefit of others.

We wish all to remember simple human values ??such as kind attitude towards the world surrounding us, self-control, care of fellow human beings and compassion, and understand that the way of non-violence and dialogue is not an easy one but it can bring perfect results.

Happy Birthday to Your Holiness the Dalai-lama XIV Tenzin Gyatso!
