Laying of the Memorial Stone for the Buddhist Temple on Victory Park

On November 4, 2014, the National Unity Day, the solemn ceremony of laying of the stone on the site of the Buddhist temple dedicated to the memory of the Buddhists died during the Great Patriotic War was held on Poklonnaya Hill in Victory Park.

The organizer of the memorial stone laying ceremony was the ??local religious organization “Moscow Buddhist Center “Three Jewels” which is the construction customer of the temple.

Mr. Y. Artukh, the Head of Department of Interregional Cooperation, National Policy and Relations with Religious Organizations, attended the event and read the greeting of Moscow Mayor.

The Buddhist clergy from Buryatia, Kalmykia and Tuva, under the guidance of Pandito Khambo lama D.B.Ayusheev, the Head of the Buddhist Traditional Sangha of Russia, held prayers and laid a sacred vessel - bumpa, into the memorial stone foundation, which contains all the most valuable things the Buddhist possess: several types of grain, nine samples of non-ferrous metals and sacred sutras. Bumbe laying symbolizes the wish to the residents of Moscow and Russia to live in peace, prosperity, spiritual and material prosperity.

Besides, the ceremony was attended by Mr. E.Eremin, the Head of the Department for Relations with Religious Organizations to the Russian President Administration for Domestic Policy; Mr. L.Shoigu and M. Slopenchuk, Deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation; Mr. Sh.Ilyasov, the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kalmykia, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kalmykia to the President of the Russian Federation; Mr. A.Lehatinov, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Buryatia, the Chief Representative of the Republic of Buryatia to the President of the Russian Federation; Mr. S.Namchak, the First Deputy Authorized Representative of the Republic of Tyva in Moscow; Mr.O.Damdinov, the First Deputy Chief Representative of Zabaikalye Territory Government to the President of the Russian Federation; Mr.Altangerel Shukher, the Ambassador of Mongolia to the Russian Federation, as well as the representatives of the authorities of Moscow and other regions of the Russian Federation, the leaders and members of the Buddhist religious organizations of Moscow and regions of traditional Buddhism and the representatives of foreign countries with traditional Buddhist population.

All of them emphasized in their speeches the need to build a Buddhist temple on Poklonnaya Hill.

Pandito Khambo Lama D.B.Ayusheev, the Head of the Buddhist Traditional Sangha of Russia, said that the Buddhist memorial temple will unite all Buddhists in Moscow regardless of their ethnic and religious traditions, and called all the Buddhists of Moscow to support this project and lend him all-out assistance.

The event was held in a warm and joyful atmosphere. After the official part of the event the folk music groups performed national songs and melodies of Buryatia, Kalmykia and Tuva.
