About three hundred Buddhist women from all Mongolia regions gathered to discuss current issues related to study and practice of traditional Buddhism. The representatives of Tibet House of Russia, Vice-President N. Berkenheim and E.A. Kosenko, the representative in Siberia, made the reports “Tibetan Diaspora in Mongolia” and “Phenomenon of Hambo Lama Itigelov as an example of the highest spiritual realization in Buddhism”.
The International Conference of Buddhist Women in Mongolia is held each year and attracts more and more believers, Buddhists and Orientalist scholars. This initiative serves strengthening of mutual understanding and study of history, philosophy and Buddhism and it is an important component of development for interreligious dialogue in contemporary world. Thanks to such conferences, the international community has an opportunity to realize significance of women in Buddhism not only as nuns but first of all as mothers and wives handing down family and moral values to their children.
